Automotive parts today are made of welded tubes.
Some examples are exhuast systems, seat frames,
and engine cradles. In order to ensure repeatable
geometries in the bended tubes, they have to be
oriented by the position of the welded seam.

Weld seams must also be detected in coil processiong
lines in order to prevent welded blanks from entering
the press tooling. These detection and positioning
tasks are the jobs of the ROLAND Weld Seam Detectors
for tubes and coils.
